The USB card reader described below looks impressive. Is it really a piece
of junk feature wise?

Would SDHC support be a good thing to have ? That handles
the larger SD devices. I don't see that in the list.
It really depends on what you really need, as to whether it
is a good deal or not. A weakness on some units, is the
sockets provided for all the different standards. For example,
there are some units, that claim to support 56 different
kinds of devices, and you can imagine that to do that,
the sockets on the front panel must be abused in some way.
Sometimes, a dedicated unit, supporting just one standard, and
having a USB cable on the end, is of more use than a captive
device sitting in a 5.25" drive tray. The memory socket may be
more robust, and the device can also be unplugged
when not in use. Some people use devices like that, to
support whatever format their camera uses for storage.
