It depends on how big the spill was, where it ended up
inside, and how much sprite was in the drink since the
primary problem is remaining water and the sugary residue
once that liquid has dried.
Disassemble the entire thing as much as possible, rinse with
warm water until the sugar has dissolved away then gently
shake away excess water and blot dry. It may take more than
a few seconds of time rinsing to get the dried sugary
residue out from under some chips and tight areas, the
warmer the water the better. Work the keyboard keys back
and forth when rinsing it, or it may need to be submerged in
warm water and left soaking for awhile to get all the
residue dissolved and rinsed away.
This excludes certain parts like hard drive, optical drive,
battery, which should only be wiped with a damp cloth
instead of rinsed. If there's residue all over the fan then
remove it and rinse it as well, shake out excess water and
air dry as per the other parts.
If there is no evidence of the spill getting into the top
screen portion then don't let water get into that area. Be
sure it is completely dry before reassembly.
