Hi Experts :-)

I have a problem with this modem and need to
change the username and password.
Unfortunately I have no useful documentation to
help me.

Help much appreciated.

A lot of these devices, have a "factory reset button". Pressing it for
some period of time, causes *all* settings to be lost. And returns
the default web interface IP address and blank admin password to get
in. By clearing all the settings, you might lose the ADSL username/password
used to authenticate the PPP session. (One account/password to get into the
web interface, a second account/password for the ISP PPP session.)

So read the manual, before going crazy with the button. If the owner of the
device is clueless, they may have lost their ISP account name and password.
If you push the button, you could lose the only copy of that info. The
account name may be in the printed documentation from the ISP, but if the
user is particularly clever, they can phone the ISP and have the password
changed, and then forget to write it down in their manual.

My new modem/router, has the capability for an ISP to set it up, such
that pressing the reset button, only exposes a less-powerful user
account with limited settings capabilities. So some of these modem/router
boxes have "jail" capability, intended to dumb down the hardware so
users can't get themselves in trouble. Since my modem/router was
a retail purchase, the account exposed is "Admin" and all settings
are available. I've used the factory reset button a couple times
on mine, while fooling around with it (changing operating modes).

Have fun,

Thank you very much Paul. I will nominate you soon
for "Genius of the Year."
Now back to reading the manual and notes that you
have so kindly provided.

You too have fun  :-)
