I have an old Radeon 8500 graphics card and the fan has gone out it. I would
like to try and find a replacement fan or something inexpensive to keep this
GC going for a bit longer. Any suggestions on a fan that might work or
passive cooling system that might work as well.
Thanks for the advice.
Re: Radeon 8500 fan replacement options
Did you google search for "Radeon 8500 heatsink"?
If it's the type of fan that sits recessed into a well in
the metal portion of the 'sink, such fans are usually hard
to find and short-lived junk. Thus it is common to replace
the entire 'sink rather than only the fan. If you have
space under your video card (next PCI slot is or could be
made empty), you might be able to choose a normal framed fan
and screw it to the top plane of the heatsink rather than
sitting down inside of it. If you found and linked a good
picture of your card/heatsink, we might be able to post more
