Someone posted earlier about KVMs and VNC was suggested. This got me

I have a few systems set up. They're all complete - monitor, mouse,
keyboard. While I could use VNC to administer them, that takes a chunk of
LAN bandwidth and is still 'klunky'.

I was wondering if there was any remote control software that allowed me to
switch my keyboard/mouse control between the PC's while still using the PC's
own monitor to view? This would give me a single keyboard/mouse for control
with the speed of watching the remote PC's actual display.

You might want to take a look at Synergy, it's an open source project.
