I do not know where to go with my problem so I thought I would start here.
When streaming music from the internet with WMP, WinAmp, Screamer, etc. I
end up getting kicked off the internet.  I loose my connection through my
ISP.  I usually soft reboot to reestablish my internet connection.

800 Mhz Pentium III
WinXP Pro SP2

3 Mbps through cable modem and router

I called GCI.net and asked if they had any solutions.  Of course it was not
them but my codecs.  I am using K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 1.61.

I am looking for guidance on where I could go to seek help.

More information is that the error message I get is Connect error:
Connection timeout All sources failed, giving up!  I assume this is a
Screamer error.  I have a WireShark capture file that shows the errors
happening.  Sure would like to find somebody that could look the file and
give me some idea of what is happening.

Here are a few suggestions that have corrected problems similar for me in
the past.

You might want to consider removing the router temporarily from the mixture
and run the PC directly from the cable modem.  I have run into a few cheap
routers that lock up due to loading.  A few early Linksys routers were noted
for this in the past.

The same can be said for some older Ethernet cards.  A weak chip might be
heating up from the continuous load.

Some problems like this might also fixed by installing a DNS program like
TreeWalk.  Some ISP's have really crappy DNS servers or use them to try and
control the flow by rejecting user DNS lookups.

I have an old backup machine running 550 Mhz Pentium III that still works
fine with the latest versions of Screamer and WinAmp so it's most likely not
a problem with those programs.

Problems within Windows and firewalls can be too numerous to go over.  My
suggestion on that is to try another boot method, CD or hard drive, and see
if the problem stays with the copy of Windows installed on your normal boot

The router is a Netgear RangeMax 240 WPNT834 and the card is a Netgear

I will try your suggestions.
