I changed two 64MB RAM modules for two 128MB modules.
Works fine, but ........
at startup it takes more than 3 (three !!) minutes between the moment the
background-picture appears and the moment that the icons appear and tat the
system is ready. What can I do to speed it all up?

Check for memory errors before running windows anymore,
Are you sure these modules are compatible?
Is the system otherwise sluggish or it is possible there is
some new problem unrelated to the memory like a problem with
the network, setting up connections or something related to
the user profile being loaded?

and use that to reconfigure your boot sequence.

Or use this
To use Bootvis download and install the program, then run it.
Go to the 'trace' menu and select 'next boot and driver delays.'
Bootvis will prompt to reboot. Reboot and wait for Bootvis to start again.
Go to the 'trace' menu and select 'optimize.' Reboot again. Wait for Bootvis
to complete its analysis.
Your boot times should now be optimized.
