Minor boot up problem with Compaq Deskpro en

Not a major problem but something I'm sure is easy to sort out when
you know how.

Basically, I have an old Compaq Deskpro en that I have as a second
computer which has worked fine for a few years now and still is.
However, yesterday I replaced the old 20Gig Hard Disk with a Western
Digital 80Gig (ATA not serial) and reinstalled Windows XP Home. The
one minor niggle I have and don't know how to resolve is during boot

Both from cold or just restart I get presented with just the black
screen (prior to any windows screens) with the following words:

The following configuration options where automatically updated:

DISK: 80026 MB ....
CD-ROM: HP-CD ....

If you are running Unix, you need to configure your system using the
computer setup utility (F10)

Compaq Desk Pro

:Save Changes  (This bit highlighted)

At this stage all I need to do is hit F2 and the PC boots up fine
without any problems, but I wondered how I can get it to boot up
straight through?

I wondered whether it was trying to boot up from CD, but I don't seem
to be able to get to the 'post' screen (I think that's what you call
it) where I can check the boot order etc, my other PC I think was F8
to get to this, but that doesn't work on the Compaq.

Any help would be great.

Many thanks

There are some BIOS entry keys listed here.

"Compaq - Presario, Prolinea, Deskpro, Systempro, Portable

     * Press F10 while the cursor in the top right corner of the
       screen is blinking.
     * Older Compaq computers may use the F1, F2, F10, or Del key
       to give access to BIOS."

And the line "computer setup utility (F10)" tells you it is
F10 in the case of your computer. The computer setup utility,
is that series of BIOS setup screens.

Thanks Paul, that pointed me in the right direction.

I had to hold F10 down when booting up (no blinking time)<grin>, SETUP
then appeared I then hit F1, this got me into the BIOS screen. My
asumption was correct, the boot order was Floppy Disk > CD-ROM then C:
drive. Hard drive (C: now first). Boots up as one would expect.

Many thanks for your help.
