When I swap it with the laptop's 11GB hard drive (Hitachi DK23CA-11), the
hard drive LED stays on all the time. And the 20GB drive runs much

Could the constantly-on LED explain the higher running temperature?
Is there anything I can do to check whether this is a genuine fault that is
limiting the operation of the drive or whether it is just an indication
