But when I looked in my device manager on WinXP it says I have my video,
sound and a lot of other items all on the same IRQ, 9. I was thinking about
changing the IRQs to be different for each device to get more performance.
But I'm not sure about how to do that in XP, with an Asus A7V133
motherboard. XP is managing the IRQs with Microsoft ACPI. Does anyone know
if this is possible, or if there would even be a benefit? Thanks
Re: IRQ Assignments
First thing you might do is go into the bios and disable
any/all things you dont' use. For example, a midi port or
SB emulation, comm port(s), parallel port (if you had USB
Then remove devices from Device Manager and see if WIndows
assigns a different IRQ. Any cards installed in slots, you
could also try moving to different slots. If the bios
allows setting different slot IRQs, this is another later
thing to try.
Does the system not work properly? "Better" is relative...
typically changing things is done to resolve problems. If
you have no problems and benchmarks look right, you may be
best off leaving it as-is.
