I have a dead HDD (electrical failure dur to me connecting the wrong
voltage power supply) from which I need to recover data.
I am located in Australia, and it seems like the average price for
reputable-looking companies here is about $1300 (530 pounds / 980 USD).
After posting on this group before, a recommendation was made for
http://www.retrodata.co.uk/ where in my case the quote would be 150
pound / 280 USD. Given the huge apparent price different I would be
willing to ship the HDD overseas (UK or USA) to have the data
recovered, but would have to trust the company.
My questions are
1. are there any companies that you have used or would recommend that
are cheaper than $1300 aussie / 530 pound / 980 USD?
2. what is the average price in your country so far as you know?
Thanks for any help given, Katie.
