autostart, but the new Asus cd drive and new Sony DVD writer will not auto
start when I put in a cd. I guess that means they will not boot either.
Is there anyway to fix this while still having the opticals on the pci card?
Re: Get opticals to autostart from PCI card, how?
No, autostart and boot having nothing to do with each other.
Frankly, you shouldn't want them to autostart, because that
means any future CDs you put in could automatically infect
your system with crud/DRMware/whatever.
Regardless, maybe your windows settings are wrong? I don't
recall how/where to adjust that but Goggle should find it.
Maybe it simply won't work on the PCI card but I've never
heard of that being an issue if the drives themselves still
work from the card.
As for booting from them, it should still be a matter of
selecting the PCI card as the boot controller-device in your
motherboard bios, though some PCI cards have to have a hard
drive connected to load their bios and be usable before the
OS loads a driver.
