// Spec 2
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 560 3.6GHz 800MHz 1MB LGA775
Chipset: Intel 915P + ICH6
Memory: 2 Gig DDR2-533
Video: nVidia 6800GO 256MB
Opitical: 8X DVD-RW Dual Layer Drive
Hard Drive: Toshiba 80GB 5400rpm 16MB cache
Audio: High Definition Audio 24 bit 1.92KHz
A minor difference between the 2 is the Hard Drive on Spec 1 has an 8MB
Cache, but is 7200 rpm. The Hard Drive on Spec 2 is 5400 rpm, but has
16 MB cache.
Spec 1 runs with the "M" Processor for 2.26ghz
SPec 2 runs with the "P4" Processor for 3.6ghz
Spec 1 CPU has a 2 MB Cache
Spec 2 CPU has a 1 MB cache
Battery life on Spec 2 is about half that of the "M" processor, but
that's not really a big deal to me.. as I tend to be somewhere with
power outlets most of the time.
My main concern is performance on high end games and disk speed. I
don't want the game to stutter as it's loading up segments of the game
as progression is made, and I don't want to worry about graphics
lagging because the CPU can't push enough power through for whatever is
I know the "M" series is suppose to run cooler than the P4
HyperThreaded, but running high end games I think either system would
probably get pretty hot from all the graphics crunching.
When I refer to gaming, I'm talking about Half-Life 2 / Doom 3 /
F=2EE.A.R. / Quake 4 quality level.
I know there are some more expensive notebooks out there that include
the 7800 series graphics card, but I'm trying to keep the price within
reason. I can get the Spec 1 Notebook for about $2,400. I can get the
Spec 2 for about $2,000.
If anyone knows of a better deal, please by all means.. advise. =)
Feedback on what you would recommend greatly appreciated.
