For awhile I had an tiny Compaq mini-system running Freesco,
Google will find Freesco. Then a D-Link 704 router, which
has a serial port on the back that can be used for an
external modem as well as administration (though, IIRC, it
did also have the now-common HTML browser accessed interface
too). This was back when the 704 came in a dull (grey or
black, dk. blue maybe?) metal case, I can't tell you if the
newer plastic cased ones still have the serial port &
dial-up support or not. The following "MIGHT" be it,
though your best bet for finding one at a low price might be
ebay, or a lot of hunting online.
IIRC, at the time there was also a DLink 704P in a metal
case, but I don't recall if it had both the parallel _and_ a
serial port. DLink now has a 704P in plastic case but
according to this brochure, the picture of the back makes it
pretty clear that it does not have a serial port anymore.
