I have a very old computer here with me. Pentium I (1.66 Mhz), along
with all the old hardwares inside.
When I boot it up:
the indicator light near the power on button of the monitor blinks
instead of staying lit on.
The LED on the hard disk stays lit on.
No sound emitted from the processor to show it is busy working (there
is always sound if the processor is busy operating for this computer)
Could it be the processor or even motherboard gone faulty?
Iím close to selling this thing off since itís really giving me
Any idea on what might cause the problem and possible ways to
Re: computer doesn't boot up at all
I will asume you mean 166Mhz
Well not on this one. This CPU would have been cooled by convection and not
a fan hence no noise. I will also assume the noise you are refering to not
hearing is the hard drive and not the CPU. Since the lite is acting diferent
than normal that is your likely problem
Selling it???? You would likely have trouble giving it away. I have thrown
away a half dozen or so that were far more, Infact just today I had someone
at work ask me if I wanted his old one to play with. He had a 600Mhz P2 with
184 megs of ram and 20 gig drive. I told him I had no use for it and four
other people turned him down when he was giving it away. Do yourself a favor
and put the one you got in the trash bin and buy yourself a new one.
