rate this thread
my neighborhood. It shows no available wireless connection even when
another laptop right next to it shows all the routers that indeed are
available. I am told this could be a problem with the Centino chip and it
may need to be replaced. Are there any other possibilities? Thanks,
Re: Centrino wireless connectivity
Try changing the settings, try removing and reinstalling the
network adapter. "Centrino" is not a chip, it's just a
buzzword for a laptop with intel parts... the Intel network
adapter is the hingepin, making an otherwise identical
laptop a "Centrino", or not.
If all else fails, buy another network adapter- it need not
be same make and model, just compatible, presumably you want
802.11g? Anyway the Intel adapters are rather expensive
compared to some, and if it's under warranty still then take
advantage of it... though you can get an off-brand adapter
for under $20 so it's not worth a lot of time or hassle if
they'd require significant BS to wade through to get the
current adapter replaced under warranty.
