Bluetooth headset... performance slump..

I installed a Tevion USB Bluetooth dongle yesterday, and the range was
easily up to 10m before crackle would set in. I had only charged up my
Plantronics Explorer 320 headset for maybe 20 minutes. I left it
charging overnight for an extended run today and now I find I can't
even turn my head without losing signal.
Has something changed in my dongle, or could the recharge have affected
my headset? Anybody seen this before?
Thanks all.

Re: Bluetooth headset... performance slump..

Reinstalled everything twice, and suddenly I'm back to the 10m range.
No idea why though. Can the Bluetooth drivers affect the perfomance
like that? I would have thought it was a work/not work kind of thing
with the range being dependent on the hardware.
Hope it stays this way, but who knows...

Is it possible you have some background interference that
varies in strength by time of day or local equipment?  Even
with frequency hopping, if it were bad enough it could make
a difference.  I wouldn't expect drivers or (a then fully
charged) battery to make a difference though if the drivers
could set a different broadcast strength... but I doubt it
unless it was implicitly mentioned in the product

I do have a Bluetooth phone too, so I'll check later at home as to
whether that's Bluetooth was on. After that it's the light switches...
