for a good enough price but the manual online says that it supports a p3
1ghz at 100mhz FSB but mine is a 133mhz FSB. Does that mean the board won't
suit this CPU? It does support other 133Mhz FSB cpus such as the P3 933Mhz.
The board is a MSI MS-6334 815M PR0.

it might mis-identify the CPU by name, but that's only a
cosmetic issue which a bios update "might" address if it's
important to see correct name at POST time. Manuals are
seldom if ever updated to include later CPU models, but
sometimes the bios update notes mention it, or there is a
CPU compatibility chart (maybe, I dont' recall if MSI has
one or only some of the other brands but I think they do, or
at least did...).
More significant might be that some of the mATX MSI boards
of that era used marginally defective GSC capacitors, and
unlike some boards which were only poorly designed, these
are the genuine defective caps- I have a board I "observe",
which is just sitting on a shelf, not having been in a
system for well over a year and more of the caps have began
or furthered their swelling on top. Some MSI boards used
Rubycon caps during about the same timeframe, which were far
It's been a while now, my memory of the specific Rubycons
might be off but I think the Rubycons on those where blue
with a gold stripe, while the GSCs where green with a gold
stripe. If you can see the board first to be sure none of
the larger caps are GSC, it's a more viable candidate.
Another isssue more significant today is that 815 chipset
only supports up to 512MB memory. Shame on Intel for
crippling it like that, if you want more memory then go for
a Via Apollo Pro (694X or 694T) chipset based board. I
suspect those made by MSI are also likely to have GSC caps
on them, depending on when they were made, how long until
MSI realized they had time bombs on their hands.
