one of which (the third, below) is said to handle Windows XP, and
the others (the first and second, below) apparently will NOT The
first two may in fact be the same model CPU, but I don't know. I can
find no way through Google to ask AMD to clarify this question, so I
ask you guys, is there a knowlegeable site that can tell me an answer?
The question to which I am most interested in the answer is whether
the third CPU below will handle BOTH XP and W7. I want to multi-boot.
Anyone know a website to get the answer?

Re: AMD CPU Question
WinXP licensing is by socket. WinXP Home supports one socket
(fully meets 5800 on its own). WinXP Pro supports two sockets,
and can run a dual socket server motherboard (if drivers
are available of course).
Win2K was the last desktop OS to be licensed by "cores".
This is why I couldn't put a quad core on my Win2K box,
because only two cores would be supported.
I don't think WinXP will have a problem supporting this
single socket motherboard. Should be "good to go".
