I have a question. I need to add a tape drive to my server. The tape
drive requires a 16 bit Wide Ultra 160 LVD scsi interface. I do indeed
have a scsi card in the server but I not sure that it meets these specs.
For simplicity sake, can I add a second scsi card to the machine and use
Any suggestions on the best card?
Re: add second scsi card in server
You can add as many SCSI adapters as you want. The system will attempt to boot
from the first SCSI adapter detected that has its BIOS enabled. If it attempts
to boot from the wrong card either disable the BIOS on the card you don't want
to boot from or swap the cards between PCI slots.
I am not up to date on SCSI adapters. Ask the people at comp.periphs.scsi for a
recommendation. Be aware that many 160 and faster adapters are designed for
PCI-X slots and may or may not work in a standard PCI slot.
