Have a friends Seagate HD which i connected to my PC as a secondary
drive. After copying some data on it , when placing it back on his
computer as a master, during boot got the error -- 'A Disk Read Error
Has Occured , Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to reboot' . This HD is correctly
read in my hard drive as a secondary, but when using as primary it
gives NTLDR is missing. What could be possibly wrong ? Is there a
diagnostic tool available to find the errors.

thanks in advance,

Sounds like the disk surface might have been damaged while moving the hard
drive around.  You are missing some vital OS files, and the surface is
damaged.  That's why it is giving you error messages when you try to use it
as a primary.

First, install it as a secondary and copy as much data off of it as you can.
Then go to Seagate web site.  They should offer diagnostic tools for
download.  But you are probably looking at replacing that drive soon.  -Dave

Had the same error recently, but it cured itslef with a reboot. Also
had me confused, as it was a Win98SE system.

That begs the question: Are both systems NT based (NT/XP/2000/2003) or
is one WIN98/ME? Also, is the partition still set for booting
