Our service engineer needs to have the capability to download new software
from our website directly to his smartphone, so he can upload it to embedded
controllers on the customer's site.
He can already browse to our website from his smartphone but the files are
not being recognized by the WM2003SE. So when he selects the link an error
message appears that says "This file cannot be viewed on the device"

Well we don't want to view it, just a prompt that says " do you want to
download this file?"

Can this be achieved in some way?

Thanks in advance.

you could rename the file to something the phone would allow (.jpg, .mp3 or
something like that). Else you could try the just released Opera browser,
one of the "features" they advertise is "ability to download files"

Tried the renaming thing:
jpg - it will try to display the picture, and fail
mp3 - it will try to play it in mediaplayer

Thanks, I will look into opera.
