Hey if you are still having problems with setting up exchange active sync and
your palm 700, please feel free to email me. My company just started using
them and I have ran into just about every problem that you can think of and
fixed all of them except for the fact when i compose an email and add an
attachment exchange activesync tends to not want to send emails
w/attachments, it just holds them in the outbox. i still can not figure that
one out. but i can send emails w/o attachments just fine. i can also
receive emails with attachments just fine its just that i can't send them.
any other problem you have please feel free to email me and i can help

I've disabled Windows firewall.....diabled virus
protection......uninstalled and reinstalled Activesync.....hard reset
the Treooo 700.....delete all relationships in Activesync (on the treo
and on the PC)......I have never been able to sync......tried
activesync 3.8 (then wnet back to 4.1)......added ports/removed
ports......

This is extremely frustrating. I'm considering getting a bluetooth
dongle for my laptop and trying to sync via BT. Should I even bother?

I've used Activesync for 3 year s without issue when I had my Dell Axim.

Hello-

I just setup my first device today and I had a few questions about

how to setup the push feature. To keep the device always up to date,

you have to enter the text message address of the phone? How does this

work? Is the phone charged for incoming text messages? Right now I

have the device to sync every 5 minutes.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

The AUTD feature (Always Up To Date) uses SMS text messaging to inform the
device that there is some e-mail waiting on the server. The device receives
the text and then does the sync. Yes.... someone has to pay for the text
messages.

If you don't want to pay for these, then you can use the device schedule
instead. This allows you to sync on a regular basis, down to every 5 minutes
if you need your e-mail that quickly.

The future is the "push" capability using Exchange 2003 SP2 and an update to
Windows Mobile 5. This allows the Exchange server to notify the device over
the IP netowrk that there is mail waiting - so there is no need to pay for
SMS text messages or any other server components. This update was released
by Microsoft in October or so last year, and many carriers / device
suppliers have announced earlier this week that they will be using it later
this year.

Cheers, Chris
