 My Dell 6400 laptop with Windows Media Centre 2005 crashed last week and got
the blue screen of death. I took it in to get fixed - I am able to run most
apps. except the media centre. I checked the properties of the shortcut and
its pointing to the right place.

When I click shortcut, I get the following message:

ehshell.exe - Strong name validation failed for assembly
'C:\WINDOWS\ehome\ehshell.exe'. The file mayh have been tampered withor it
was partially signed but not fully signed with the correct private key.

Also, I cannot install updates from the Windows Update window.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

 I'm having this same problem after installing SP3 to my Media Center
workstation. Please let me know if you find a resolution. I opened an SP3
incident and they tried to redirect me to PAID Media Center support...I don't
think that is right. Anyway, please help if you can.

Well the same with me and I have been all over the carpet and everyone begs
off to the other person. Same scenerio with the same outcome. Anyone please

Same problem except I was running SP2 on a Dell E1505. Installed SP3 - no
change in the error message. All the XP programs seem to work fine except
WMC.
Does anyone have an uncorrupted ehshell.exe?

Just today I tried to update my PC to SP3 and I think it successfully
updated but now I'm having the same problem everyone else is having with
Media Center not opening. Has anyone come up with a solution yet?

And do you think Media Center will still be able to record previously
scheduled programs? I would think yes but you never know.

I've tried System Restore but every time I pick a past date it says no
changes have been made...

Come on MS! Come up with a fix!
