RE: dishnetwork ir blaster not changing channels on the stb
Couple of things:
1. IR Blaster not working (sortof) (I think)
2. test the IR Blaster
3. Does anyone know where in the registry for the stb remote resides?

I have an hp mc05 with an DishNetwork (DN) echostar dual tuner STB (set top
box)

1. What it is doing or not doing, During MC Setup, mc is recognizing the
digits of the stb remote, the it wants to test if it will change the station,
but it doesn't change the station in the little box(stays where it was when
powered up), but before that it, MC Setup, asks if the STB requires an
"enter" to complete the channel change-Answer is NO (but if you are in the
guide you do need to hit the "select button" to have it change to the keyed
station. So does this show that the ir is working to enter the digits(they
are being recognized by mc, but how can we know that that digits are/aren't
going tothe stb?

2. is there a way to test the ir blaster to see if it is working(generally)
and the working specifically into the stb? I only have one so I can swap it
out.

Also there are 3 ir "lights" on the stb. DN said the 3 ir on the stb aren't
dedicated. Is that true?, are they just redundant and not assigned?

Is there a way to do the stb remote without having to reset and reinstall the
entire TV Signal Setup.

Also one person commented on another post that the ir blaster needed to be
on (one of the 3-"the correct one) the correct stb ir diode, but when in the
TV Signal Setup-Using the Remote to Change the stb-testing phase putting the
ir blaster on ea. of the 3 different lights-made no difference. the number
enter into the greyish bock but the underlying video signal stays on the same
channel the it started on.

Once you allow Media Center to identify your STB Remote, you don't use =
it anymore, you use the Media Center Remote. MCE will not recognize =
your STB remote for general use. It just identifies it so it knows how =
to control your STB.

I figured out part, I HAD a dish dual receiver mod#322. It uses an IR for the
remote for receiver 1 and a UHF remote (a little antenna on the back) for the
2nd receiver. So the IR would never work with the receiver 2 (which is the
one I was trying to make work initially) So since I have a MCE dual tuner, I
need the 2 STB's to be both IR remote, not one UHF remote(which is used to be
able to get the signal thru the walls, al a the second tv in another room but
the Dual STB is where the main tv is)
