I have an hp hx4700 windows pocket pc 2003 se . I lost data when ran out of
power. on connecting to active sync I have set it up as guest and run restore
on latest backup. I get message Device mismatch , cannot restore as backup
file was created by different type of device there is a help button on the
error meassage but does not function. How can I get restore my backup
This happens at home on activesync 4.5 and at work on active sync 3.8 . I
would prefer to make the work backup work as it is more uptodate .
Is it possible to copy the backup file from work and put in my profile
folder at home under activesync 4.5 , is there any advantage to performing
the restore under 4.5

Hi,

Refer - http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/faqs/activesync/backup.htm and ensure you
followed the steps right. I don't think you have any advantage to perform a
restore under 4.5.

Many thanks, I had country and language wrong, have restored old backup at
home (its 9pm over here.) However am having a few issues with syncronisation.
the activesync 4.5 does not seem to recognise cash organiser 2007 premium
sync at all which was on the unit when backed up., should I change back to
active sync 4.1 which did and if so how ( I installed 4.5 during my restore
probs before posting as the help online suggested it ) or should I wait and
restore the newer backup at work and see what happens.

Hi,

You could try restoring the backup at work but I would guess reinstalling
the software would make it recognize.

Have just restored at work and am up to date , but have also had notification
from inesoft who wrote cash organiser that is if you upgrade active sync you
have to reinstall cash organiser to enable the sync to reappear . They also
have a restore option that asks to delete all data before you can select a
file to restore from, not very reassuring! Once again many thanks for putting
up with a numpties questions I'll let Inesoft take it from here.
