hi, i just bought a travelmate 8104WLMi, which is a good machine, but
it has a load of dead pixels and they wont replace or repair it. after
a little looking around it seems like lots of other people have had the
same problems with these machines, and that it isnt actually s "fault",
just an "acceptable" manufacturing defect. so if i get an Acer in the
future, i'll get it from www.laptopsdirect.co.uk and use their pre
delivery inspection service to guarantee no dead pixels - in fact i
would probably do that with any brand of laptop in the future as i use
graphic design and photoshop programs. just thougt i'd warn you about
these, and if youre going to get one either buy it in person and check
it first, or get it with a pre delivery inspection, which is what i
should have done.

yeah, dead pixels are not unheard of, and most laptop manufacturers have an
'acceptable maximum'. if you say there is a "load" of dead pixels (meaning
more than 5?), i should think it's approaching 'acceptable maximum'... call
Acer and see what their dead-pixel limit is.

How many is a load?
About a year ago, someone made a similar post, only to repost later that
he had discovered that his "dead pixels" were dust particles on the screen.

If you really "just bought it", you should have a 10-14 day
no-questions-asked return for refund option. You might have to pay the
freight, but you should exercise your return rights.
