 i am trying to figure out how to install an o.s system in an old
compaq armada
4131t, but i cant figure it out please help!

 The newest operating system appropriate for the 4131 is Windows 98. The
white papers at
http://h18007.www1.hp.com/support/files/Armada/us/locate/4_866.html should
help. Any drivers you need are on the same web page.

I suppose you don't have the CD-Rom base for your Armada?
If its the case, you should:
Have a W98 boot floppy
Boot it, partition and format the HD.
have a parallel or serial transfer cable
Use a DOS utility such as FX20 to transfer the contents of the W98 cdrom
to a directory on the laptop HD from another PC.
Then run the windows setup from that dir on the laptop.
Thats what I did to install the Armada 4120 I'm typing on now!
