I have a miniSD card for my Audiovox SMT-5600, which I can only access by
removing the battery, as many of you may know. Every time I remove the
battery, the date/time resets to 9/20/2004 at Noon. Is there any way to
stop this, or even better, have the clock synch with the cell tower? Thanks

I just picked up one of these phones via Cingular and the time syncs
without a hitch for me. Perhaps you have another provider?

That's wierd because it doesn't sync for me with Cingular.

Smartphones don't sync their clocks to the network. It's not possible.
ActiveSync sets the clock to the PC time during synchronization. If
your PC (e.g. an XP box with Internet Time sync enabled) and you sync
every other day, your phone's time is pretty much correct most of the
time.

It IS possible but for reasons unknown "smartphones" don't do it. Any number
of "dumb" phones are smart enough to do that automatically. The fact that
the smart one can't is a major PITA in my opinion.
