Hi,
a few weeks ago i posted a question regarding activesync and Cingular
2125, and had a discussion thread going with a few suggestions from the
MSFT-MVPS. None of them worked, and i had to leave on a trip.
The problem is that my contacts (in outlook) do not show up on my
cingular 2125 SP after a sync. There are about 650 contacts in outlook, and
after syncing there are none on the device. In fact in activesync,
high-lighting contacts and right-clicking shows the 'settings' button
de-activated. Other outlook items such as email, calendar, etc. do sync and
show up on the device.
After getting back from my trip i tried to solve this again by
uninstalling and reinstalling outlook and activesync. I also cleaned up the
registry, but this did not help either. Today i spent 2 hours on the phone
with a microsoft technician, and he was unable to solve this as he had to
talk to some of the activesync folks (and they were closed for the day).
Is this unique to my device (i have already exchanged the device once
thinking that it could be a device problem)? if not, why can't i sync my
contacts? the device is pretty useless if i cannot sync contacts. try
inputting 650 contacts on a SP keypad! i am really disappointed that this is
not working and there is nobody to approach - Cingular points to MS, and MS
has not been able to help so far.
Is there a senior engineer who can tell me where the problem is and solve
this. i think this should be easier to solve than it has been so far.
please post your replies ASAP ...

I know this doesn't help you much but I just wanted to say that it must not
be the device because I can synch my contacts fine. Maybe it's a setting on
the Local PC that you are using?

I am having the exact same problem. My phone runs through the sync mode, says
syncing 197 contacts, and nothing appears on phone. Tech support was also
useless. Did you ever find out what was wrong with yours?

try cleaning your PST file by running scanpst. this helped solve my problem.

I tried everything mentioned, ran scanpst.exe, repaired outlook, reinstalled
outlook, uninstalled and reinstalled activesync. I finally was able to sync
my contacts by adding the IP address of the phone to the trusted sites in
outlook's/explorer's security tab.

Within outlook go to tools>options>settings>zone settings>trusted
sites>sites and add your phone's IP address, mine was 169.254.2.1

then click ok, ok, apply, ok until your are back to outlook, restart
activesync and it should work.

I still have not figured out how to get the settings button enabled though.

but at least they now sync.
