 After Windows XP update, my Dell Dimension 9100 cd-rom no longer works. The
device shows up, I have upgraded drivers and firmware, but the computer will
not let me record, nor can it read anything in my cd-rom drive (Sony CRX217E
- came with the computer). I tried to do a system restore, but it doesn't
work. Everything was fine until this latest Windows update.
PLEASEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! Can anyone out there help me. I'm desperate. I've
checked to make sure settings were on to make cd recordable. I've
uninstalled Windows media 10 and tried to reinstall after rebooting. I hope
someone has experience with this and can help me out. Thanks so much.

 Try upgrading the motherboard BIOS.

Upgraded drivers & firmware before or after it not working (and which
firmware?)

Idoes music CD or anything work? Does it eject? Light come on?
Have you checked cabling?
