cannot sync with Outlook 2007 Kyle 06-10-2008

I've read there were extensive complaints last year about Outlook 2007
killing peoples' ability to sync. Is there any update to that, or a
solution found?

I am using an HP iPaq 2215 with WM2003SE, and have been synchronizing
with no problem until recently, when I upgraded my PC from Outlook
2003 to Outlook 2007.

Now, every time I try to sync, AS gets through the Contacts, Calendar,
Tasks and when it gets to Notes it bogs down trying to sync what it
thinks are 300 notes (it keeps duplicating notes), AS crashes and then
I get the message, "ActiveSync Application has encountered a problem
and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I send the
error report to MS, for what it's worth.

During the prematurely terminated sync some - but not all - of my
contacts and appointments are duplicated. I can find no common
denominator to the items being duplicated.

I updated ActiveSync to 4.5 (I was using 4.2) and still have the same
problems. I did a complete uninstall of 4.2, rebooted the PC, and
installed 4.5 before starting Outlook.

I will say the first time I tried to sync after installing Outlook
2007, I had some problems, and AS thought it had to go through and
synchronize every single item anew as though it hadn't seen any of
this before.

So what are my options, short of asking Microsoft to take back Office
2007 Ultimate and giving me something that WILL work with ActiveSync?

Hi,
At this point ActiveSync is the only sync solution for Outlook 2007 for
Windows Mobile devices that Microsoft supports.

Chris,

Thanks for your reply. I think my question may have been confusing.

I cannot get AS to work with Outlook 2007, and have seen across USENET
and Internet discussion boards countless postings of this problem but
no real solutions. My hope was that Microsoft had solved the problem
but that it hadn't been posted somewhere yet.

Apparently, I am screwed, as I will have to keep all my appointments,
contacts, tasks, and ListPro lists either entirely on my PC or on my
iPaq, but seemingly will never be able to sync again.

Different people have different problems- I'm not sure a single, simple
"cure" will be coming.

You're half-way there- yourdevice connects and attempts to sync. Have you
deleted and recreated the partnership to, in effect, start from scratch?
(I'd back the device up to storage card using a backup utility like Sprite
or SPB first so you can get back to this point if necessary.)

Deleting the partnership will erase the PIM data on the device if it's WM5
or later. Now create a new partnership and attempt syncing ONE data type
at a time- i.e. Contacts. Select "replace data on device" if prompted.
Initial sync on a WM5+ device takes forever- just let it do it's thing. If
the contacts sync, click on calendar and try that, adding one data type
each time until (hopefully) it's all syncing.

If THAT fails, it might be time to look at a non-Activesync-based solution,
like Funambol.

I'm having the same problems using a DELL Axim pocket pc. No problem using MS
Office 2003 but have just upgraded to MS Office 2007.
I can synch with all other programmes but not with Micorosft Office
"outlook" for calendar and contact.
Is there an update out there please advise?
