cannot decrypt files on my workstation Zoran Pantic 01-03-2007

We have a 2003 domain, and my workstation is XP.

The domain was upgraded to R2, and several DC's were shuffled arround, so
now no "original" DC's are present any more.

I had some files encrypted on my local harddisk on my workstation, but now I
cannot decrypt it - it says "access denied".

When I try to encrypt any file on any other machine using my user account, I
get error:
"The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another
process".

I cannot decrypt using administrator account (which is recovery agent).

If I try to add Administrator as user who can transparently access this
file, I get "Error in adding new user(s). Error code 5.".

I cannot copy nor move the files away from my hard disk.

What can I do to decrypt files? And what is wrong?

Thanx in advance,

Regards,

Zoran

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/221997/en-us is a good start.
It looks to me that you have lost your user profile and there was also no
recovery agent configured. That means "Files and folders that have been
configured to use EFS are completely undecipherable except to the user who
originally encrypted them."
Also search for "efs decrypt" in the Microsoft Knowledgebase
(http://support.microsoft.com/)
