I can't sync any items (appointments, contacts or tasks) if they contain any
text in the notes section of the item. But any items WITHOUT any text in the
notes section are syncing fine. Ironically, my notes are also syncing fine.

More detail: None of my pre-existing PC items that contain any text in their
notes section are syncing onto my iPAQ. They simply don't appear on the
iPAQ. Also, if I enter any text to the notes portion of a functioning item
on my PC then the sync link is broken for that item from then-on. Any
further changes made on the PC (times, dates, anything) aren't reflected in
the iPAQ. But changes made on the iPAQ do get synced back to the PC,
overwriting any changes made on the PC version of that item.

Also, deleting the notes from an offending item does not re-establish
connection. Once something has been written to the notes portion of the item
on the PC it will not sync over to the iPAQ even after deleting the text in
the notes.

In summary, as soon as any text appears in the notes section of an
appointment/contact/task then any further PC changes made don't get synced
over to the iPAQ. Except for delete! Deleting a "broken" item on my PC
successfully deletes it from the iPAQ.

I use an iPAQ 6965 and an IBM thinkpad T41 with Windows XP and Office 2003.
This 6965 is just purchased second hand. I had one before which worked fine,
but I smashed it, hence the second hand purchase.

I've deleted partnerships and started again - same problem. I've installed
active-sync 4.5 - same problem.

Thanks!

sorry, no solution.
I've swapped laptops with one my staff (who doesn't sync their phone). Now OK.

Hi,

I am not certain what is causing this issue but since you specified your
earlier iPAQ was working fine on the same profile, I would suggest a hard
reset of the device to rule out the possibility of it being the reason.

If the issue persists, you could try to delete the partnership then run
Detect & Repair under the Help menu of Outlook and recreate the partnership.

Hi,

I just wrote a similar request (see above "ActiveSynch 4.x, contacts with
notes filled, no synch with pst file"). Do you use a pst file like me? I
have only problems using pst file. Using exchange 2003 / outlook 2003 is ok.
A hard
reset, new partner, new pst and import didn't help (different hardware).
I am also looking for a solution for the problem.
