I have Windows XP Media Center on my HP Computer. Also have DSL
service provider. Also have a Linksys Wireless Router.
I wish to play programs previously recorded on main computer using
Media Center TV on other computers.
Is there a way of playing the programs so that they can be transmitted
using the Linksys Wireless Router? Or, are there other suggestions
on how to play downloaded programs on other computers? The other
computers do NOT have Media Center XP operating system.
best, Aaron

Yes. Windows Media Player will play the *.dvr-ms files generated by MCE.
Just share the folder containing your recorded programs. (C:\Documents and
Settings\All Users\Documents\Recorded TV by default)
From the other computers open the files with Windows Media player browsing
to the location of the shared recorder storage folder on your MCE computer.
If your not familiar with basic networking and sharing files have a look @

Please log in for more thread options Problem Solved. Can now access files and movie recordings exiting on
one computer on two of my other computers.
lt was NOT easy. I fumbled around on my own for four hours without
success before throwing in the towel & phoning Hewlett Packard. As
this was designated by them as a software issue and not a hardware
issue, even though the main computer was still under warranty, they
charged $59. for curing the problem. It was not easy for them, I
spent approx. 4 hours with them on the phone. The first tech admitted
he was stymied, and had a second tech phone me within 45 minutes.
The second tech had trouble taken control of my computer from his
station, but eventually was successful.
The second tech also spent approx 4 hours. I believe there was more
than one cause to the problem, but the main cause was that although I
disconnected Windows XP Firewall on all 3 computers, firewalls from
previously used anti virus suites such as Norton, Systemsuite, etc.
still remained. After I removed these old firewalls, he was able to
rapidly make files on each of the three computers shareable and they
appeared in MY NETWORK PLACES which is reachable by first pressing the
start button.
The moral of this story, so others may avoid this grief, is to always
first disengage FIREWALLS, when setting up shareable files. After
they were set up, I immediately re instated Windows XP Firewall.
Thank's again Doug, for replying so quickly. Best, Aaron

Glad you got it worked out. Too bad you had to pay.
Second item on the "Installing and sharing Windows networks" from the site I
referenced;

or any other program that intercepts Internet traffic while Configuring, or
