Hello All,

I downloaded CPUCHK from http://web.inter.nl.net/hcc/J.Steunebrink/chkcpu.htm
and found out that I have a CPU-ID of 00695. That leads me to believe
that I have a "Banias" core Pentium M (1700). Do you think I can
upgrade to a Pentium M 780 "Dothan" core?

I have never upgraded a CPU in a laptop before, and I'm not sure even
if the newer Pentium M will work in my motherboard (I have a Thinkpad
R50p).

Thanks!!!

I downloaded CrystalCPUID and found out this information. The same
question applies. Can I upgrade to a Pentium M 780? Thanks for your

I don't think that the 780 is going to work as it has a front 533 front side
bus and I believe your R50p is 400.

You should be able to go up to a Pentium M 765. See the chart at
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=47487 for more info.
