I record DVB-T TV in the UK, which is broadcast as 16:9 aspect ratio. I burn
these onto video DVDs, using sonicencoders, so I can watch them on my TV.
Both my PC and TV are 4:3 aspect ratio. The other day, I recorded an old
film on BBC2, which was 4:3. As a result, it was broadcast as 16:9, with
black borders on the left and right too. So when I watch it on my TV, it has
big black borders all the way round. I guess there is no way I can correct
this, so it fills the screen :-( ?
My question really is - with 16:9 DVD recordings, which expand to the right
and left, do they look OK on a wide screen TV? Do they fill the screen?
It is just that I'd hate to record all these programs, only to find that
they look rubbish, if and when I upgrade my TV to widescreen.
Cheers
Eric
