So far, I don't find these monitors have a sharp enough image or high enough
resolution...
Has anybody found one that has good quality display?
The apple screens (made by LG I believe) look good, but I'm surprised they
only have a 400:1 contrast ratio. any advice?
Thanks,
hj

I'm using a Dell 20.1", 1600x1200 LCD with MapInfo & Manifold.

Best monitor I've used - I also have a 17" Samsung 1280x1024 LCD & a 15"
Compaq 1024x768 LCD on the same desk displaying auxiliary maps with real-time
data.

I don't find contrast a problem, and I notice a MASSIVE difference in how my
eyes feel at the end of a usual 16 hour day compared to when I had 2 x 17"
CRT monitors on the desk.

I have the same along with 19" old panasonic CRT as secondary monitor.
I use it with ArcGIS and it is awesome piece, except that the transformer
and the monitor get quite warm at the end of the day.

You can buy LCD (exactly TFT) monitors that reached the resolution of
1920x1200 and is quite suitable for GIS working, Dell for example propose
these with their handbook computers.

Already running a 21" Trinitron CRT, but will likely add a benq or lf 23"
LCD display beside it. The resolution seems to be better now than a year
ago (1920x1200).
Anyway, I just noticed the ViewSonic® VP2290b 22.2" Flat Panel LCD Monitor.
Wow!
3840 x 2400 resolution but it's over $8Gs.
Just thought some of you out there with a budget for this might like to
know.
