This is the second posting of this. Don't know where the first one went! A
Windows Security Centre shield has appeared in my notification area. I think
it's a virus/trojan. I can't get rid of it! Has anyone else had this?

Zonealarm have left it alone. It seems to be responsible for removing
some file associations. Any ideas on how to remove it?"

The above is quoted from your first post. My reply was and is as
follows:

You don't mention an AV program. If you are using MSSE (MicroSoft
Security Essentials) there is a shield in the notification area which
will display in different colours depending on the status it detects.

The shield is a standard part of Windows Security Centre. WSC is merely
a front end for setting various things, such as automatic updates. It
does no harm. You should double click on the shield to open the settings
window, and change any settings to your liking. Then leave it alone.

If you have/want anything other than Windows Security essentials
protecting your system, you should turn WSE off. For advice on AV shield
software, post a new request here.
