Will Norton AV 2002 run on Win98se?

Since AVG abandoned us Win98 users, I have been without any AV
software.  Someone just gave me a legal copy of Norton AV 2002.  He
said he no longer needed it, so he was happy to find someone to use
it.  My question is whether this will run in Win98se?  It does not say
on the CD, and he did not have any of the paperwork for it anymore.

Also, does Norton still furnish the definition files for this?

There is no need to be without AV protection or to pay for it. Try Googling
for free anti virus for win 98se and choose from the range of programs.
Avast is often used.  On the other hand you could read through the previous
posts in this NG and find which ones the experts here recommend. Norton may
be OK nowadays, but it was far too slow and invasive when I used it many
years ago.

Yes.
Norton AV 2002 is for Windows98/ME/XP.

Yes.
I used Norton AV 2002 last year and the updates of Norton AV were
applied without problems.

Norton AV 2002 was one of the last good versions of Norton AV.

:-)

As of May 10th, NAV 2002 (and also NAV 2003 I think) can no longer be
updated with new virus definition files; the problem is related to the ever
increasing size of the files, and effectively means the end of usefulness of
NAV 2002.
More info on the Symanted NAV forum.

Marc.
