What's the best rotation of AV programs for Windows 7? Best freewares? Best paid?

These AV programs have lots of overlap and no clear winner, save perhaps th=
e paid versions of Norton.  With that in mind, what's the best free rotatio=
n?  Or even paid rotation for AV?  That is, two forms of protection.  I've =
also tried a online scanner but can't seem to find the link anymore (they c=
ome and go every year it seems, ebbing and flowing based on popularity, and=
if they become too popular they morph to a paid version).

I say something like MSFT Security Essentials, the default Windows 7 Firewa=
ll, then on occasion run freeware Malwarebytes Anti-Malware program and tha=
t's good enough.  I don't mind paying however, but hesitate to get Norton s=
ince historically it locks your machine into just the Norton family of prod=
ucts, which used to suck but now they have pretty good protection.

Just today in fact MSFT SE caught a virus that was pretending to be a porn =
video.

Anybody else?  Should I rotate various AV programs, and, if so, which?  The=
Kaspersky "free" Linux disc doesn't seem to work anymore on my machine, and=
I can't find the link to the latest one, and besides I've heard that you d=
on't need to boot into Linux anymore from the CD but can do a 'stay within =
W7' scan.

On another machine I use Panda Cloud freeware and it seems to work with old=
er machines running XP pretty nicely.

I have no opinion to offer you other than what I already wrote. I told you
last time how it was going to be from here on out. I won't intentionally
help you out anymore. You can post all the questions you like, Nobodies
answering you anymore. If I don't, absolutely nobody will respond.

Ask more questions. :)

That's my opinion, as your official idiot.

Have a nice day Ray. Maybe someone else will take the time to answer
questions since I said nobody would. [g] I recently pissed someone off
here, so they might for a bit just to spite me again. They're that much of
a pussy.

Later.

Oh c'mon.  Tell me what you really think.  Tell me what AV program you use and
what protocol.  Please?

I'm just a lowly idiot Ray. My opinion has no value. I bow to your
superior expertise on the subject.

Why are you thinking this way?  You were the creme-de-la-creme of the crimi=
nal hacker world once!  Don't be so down on yourself.  Sure you're a bit ru=
sty but you can still beat those LulzSec Kiddie scripters and I bet stay ev=
en toe-to-toe with those Stuxnet, Flame devs.

So who's protecting your PC Dustin?  I want to lern from the master--I'm a =

I didn't know that AV programs had "protocals".

The whole AV situation is a crock of shit, and has been for 5 to 7 years
now, ever since the rise of polymorphic malware.

The only thing an AV program is good for is that after an update, it
will detect the remnants of malware that got onto your system weeks or
months ago.  Real-time detection is a joke.

You want to be secure while surfing the web?

Go back to using Windows 98se.  Immune to all modern malware, exploits,
buffer and heap over-runs, etc.

Wait now...you are talking about malware that can morph.  But the stem must
surely be detectable--even if the "offspring" have a different signature.

Or days ago.  You seem to now be concerned about "Zero Day" exploits, correct?

Or use Linux?  Please.

Anybody else?  Seems Virus Guy raised two good points: morphing malware is hard
to spot (but it can be spotted) and there's no defense to Zero Day Attacks.  We
know that.

Dustbin?  What say you?

That's been disproven already. The immune to all modern malware, by no
means is that true. Windows 9x has no problems running 32bit PE based
executables. Those don't have to be NT only specific to be malicious.
Win98se can't run the more secure IE; IE is literally it's html rendering
engine, it's vunerable there too.

You're speaking from your ass, you know that right?
