Virus barrier just found and removed a virus called SM.Init29 from my Mac.
It is a virus on the mouse at the root level. That is all Virus barrier says.
I can't find anything on the web about what this virus is. A search comes up
empty.

Anybody know???

Hello shadow:

Might it be that this is Intego's naming convention for MacOS/Init29.a
or Trojan-Proxy.MacOS.Init29.a or a variant/predecessor?

I wonder if the Intego folks are using databases from the larger vendors
and then changing the malware names to avoid copyright problems?

Maybe too, you could drop a note asking Intego's support folks.

Best regards to you.

Thank you both.  I am having trouble figuring out how a ten year old virus
would run on a not the old OS.  I will ask Intego.
