| My dear, spam is an attempt to part you from your money.  Free offers of
| help in computer newsgroups are not spam.  I suppose if a freeware author
| offers a new great freeware program in a computer newsgroup, to you that
| would be spam.  Fortunately, you are not a moderator.

spam is not determined by merely monetary purposes.  spam is determined by its
being
indiscriminately sent unsolicited or where inappropriate.  Where it's sent
unwanted and/or
irrelevant.  spam may be messages sent via email or posted to News Groups.

I have confronted spammers in the past and they all try to rationalize why their
content is
not spam.

By your standards, anyone who posts here spams.

No.  People post here to discuss computer malware, mostly in the form of
viruses, and ways
to eliminate/erradicate them as well as mitigate their threat.

The subject matter of free software in general is NOT the subject matter of this
News Group
nor it's older sister, a.c.v Free software is only On Topic when someone acts
specifically
for free anti virus solutions.  Your postings are are NOT inline with the pupose
of these
News Groups am\nd is thus unwarranted, irrelevant and unwanted. Thus spam.

Those free sights you are posting host all sorts of free software.  Many of
which, in fact
like SourceForge, the vast majority are NOT related to viruses.

But a vast amount of the information does relate to the subject of this ng.
It also indicates that man can't live by anti-virus alone.  Extremely
relevant.

It is the subject matter of a.c.v  and  a.c.a-v  and that's the way it is.

Those who want to discuss other topics can go to one of the tens of thousands of
available
News Group and discuss that subject matter where it is best served and apropos.

Please post and reply in accordnace with the purpose of the news groups
mentioned.

No, not even a half-vast amount...

The point is:  you initiate posts/threads to visit your site instead of
*answering* a question with a description, and a link to a *specific*
page of your site which might contain the answer.

In other words, you are spamming your whole site, unsolicited, to a
group that is about a specific subject.

Speaking of your site ...
A lot of it does not work in various browsers.
It won't fit in my browser window.
It is crippled if JavaScript is disabled.
Spinning "under construction" graphics are so ... amateur, as are the
spinning "Hot" and "Cool" gifs.
There is a lot of large artwork not related to the subject.
Bold text is hard to read.
The <title> of the main page is:   default
There are 84 errors on the main page alone.

Yeah, we know you aren't an expert web site author, but please try to
fix some of that. Thanks.

So non-spam is answering a question.  Non-spam is asking a question.
Anything else is Spam?  So in a ng...your saying all one can do is ask or
answer a question.  I think not.  Ng's are a place to post a host of
informative subject matter relevant to the title of the ng.  Precisely what
I am doing.

Your post to this thread is unsolicited.  Almost all posts are unsolicited.
Poor argument.  Solicited or unsolicited has nothing to do with this.

It works in MSIE, Opera and Firefox...I know for sure.  It is html hosting
and designed by Microsoft Office Live.  Browsers that can't read Microsoft
designed websites in a Windows enviornment are holding the short end of the
stick.
