Has anyone used the Ultimate Boot CD?

http://www.ultimatebootcd.com /

It's a recommended tool on several sites.
The Avast forums and the Ultimate Boot CD forums have posts regarding these
virus findings but they assume it could be a false positive.  Has anyone
come across this?

I scanned the zip(exe), iso and CD files of Ultimate Boot CD with NOD32.
Maybe is was a false positive.

It's a false positive. The file is a text file. Load it into a text editor
and check it out.

Avira finds 8 files in UBCD4winv30.exe. After unpacking 5 are
identified. These are all .exe files. I zipped and sent to Avira for
their examination.

Let us know what you find out. I think what it will be is they are tools
that can be used for hacking but are in themselves harmless.

That's my guess. I've just started using Avira and went thru' the
exercise out of curiosity rather than a real desire to use Ultimate
Boot, although having downloaded (it's a big file) I'll probably give it
a try.

Ultimate Boot CD has saved my butt twice in the first month I had it. It
was a WHOLE lot better than working out the problem the "Windows" way...

Got me started looking at Linux too....uh oh.

Hi Drum, that *is* a good thing. I've used Debian as my primary OS for quite
a while now, and never looked back.
Good stuff, and remember you can always dual-boot. If you want to try
something really easy, look into Ubuntu.

I use it (and Bart's PE) all the time.  Never had a virus problem.

False positive.

Amusing aside:
I was trialling Prevx1, and it wiped out part of my
UBCD4Windows build folder - coz some of the tools are slightly
hackery
But, next time I want to build a CD, I'd have re-downloaded
everything anyway.
