Hello group
I just read about this interesting computer security tools   Tri-Os,
http://www.tri-os.com/features.htm
Does anybody have any experience on it and how does it compare to a
legitimately Antivirus,/Internet security in terms of preventing
malware from infesting the computer...

It is a recovery scheme, not a prevention scheme, so it doesn't prevent
malware from executing. It does prevent malware from persisting from the
look of it. Recovery schemes are *not* a replacement for prevention
measures, but they do make the recovery process easier.

Myself, I wouldn't use it just because they don't seem to fully
understand the malware problem (or their marketspeak misinformation is
aimed at duping the uninitiated user even though they actually *do* know
better)

Some quotes from their FAQ:

" Having this kind of absolute protection (lifetime) for as long as your
motherboard will last,  you do not need to use any antivirus anymore and
free yourself from renewable subscriptions, downtime, repairs caused by
virus and tampering of your computer by other users like your children
and co-employees."

[...]

"Since firewall and antivirus will no longer be necessary to use, a 15%
increase in the  processor's speed efficiency will easily be noticed
when one boots up a computer."

Yes
That had been one issue that I want some clarification why would they
put such  claim...? For  anybody not familiar with  antimalware would
immediately buy their product without forethought.....
What makes me wonder if  their product was that good then how come its
not that very popular....

I was also wondering how does it compare with faronics Deep Freeze
tool?

To sell their product. Like Apple selling people on the idea that Macs
don't get viruses because of how good the OS is, while it is actually
just a matter of circumstance.

I don't know, but I suppose it would make sense if I were responsible
for public library computers or other kiosk/computer cafe type
applications. It would be nice to have them all boot up clean every
morning. I believe it is dangerous to have people believing that
recovery is a good substitute for prevention though. It's time for
everyone to realize that it is the theft of computing power that is the
*real* issue with malware (not so much what is being done to persist),
and that theft can happen *between* boots.

tool?

For that, you would have to ask someone who cares :oD

Seriously, I had never heard of either (although I was already familiar
with the concept).

Maybe someone with experience with these can help you.
