On my new notebook is "Trend Micro Internet Security"

As usual, I change the windows host file
to block in this way the most nasty adverising addresses.

Now this security software brings at each web site,
I visit an alarm

"Your host file has changed"

This anti virus software wants to remove
my entries from the windows host file.

Any possibility to stop this nonsens?
Or should I deinstall it?

It's been some years since I suffered through Trend Micro and
maybe things have changed but....

...having said that, I would uninstall Trend Micro and install
Avast's freebie version.

I've been running Avast for a number of years with no problems -
and it's flagged quite a few viruses and malicious web pages.

My problem with the Trend Micro product was it's notification
method.   Briefly, it popped a dialog that took focus every time
somebody outside tried to do something not allowed - so when an
attack of that nature came every half second or so, the PC was
rendered unusable until I thought to pull the Ethernet plug.

Also, Trend Micro cost money... and Avast is free.... and Avast
does the job....

Finally, I like Avast well enough that I also pay an annual fee
for their special server version running on my Windows Home
Server box.
