My license just ran out for NOD32. And as of this writing, I have not
renewed. It's only been a few days since it expired.

I was reading the reviews on Download.com re the latest versions of
Avast and AVG. Do you think overall they are good enough as not to
spend the extra money?

No Anthony, spend the money and renew Eset NOD32!

BTW:  The free version of Avira AntiVir is better than BOTH Avast and AVG.

As long as you dont mind intrusive, intimidating, insulting and dishonest
popups from Avira every time you update.

I wonder why you are so upset about the advertisement of Avira?

Once per day you receive a one-page "notify" after update,
asking you to "upgrade" to the Premium (paid) version.

I you do not like this once per day single popup
(and I do not like it) you can apply this:
http://www.elitekiller.com/files/disable_antivir_nag.htm
(and I blocked the "avnotify" screen in my firewall.)

Exactly how does this relate to the original question?

Who would be better sticking with what he has now NOD32

It relates to the stated objections with some AV application's
use of advertising in a form that could be obviated.

I gather that the questions were part of an evaluation as to whether he
would be better off to stay or change, and your strident conclusion may
or may not carry any weight, especially with your displayed attitude.

| I see you also have a grudge against Winfixer.

Winfixer is a malware group family name known most notable for malware called
WinFixer but
is associated with the Vundo Trojan and the Virtumonde Adware and are all
associated with
Amaena.Com
