Remove McAfee Wireless Network Suite??

Hello..  OK, so I'm off the wall.... Help anyway!!
I bought the full McAfee Suite for all of my computers on my home
network (4)  They are all mostly home made, but plenty fast with ample
ram and McAfee works great on my system.  I have installed McAfee on
each machine, so it's not a network install.
My problem is with my older Dell laptop.  I've got it connected with a
dell wireless internal card and everything works fine, but SLOW.
Almost like it has a virus.
The laptop is an 800mhg with 384 ram and it's not upgradable to more
ram.
Anyway, I've run Defender, the standalone cleaner from Trend Micro and
of course the McAfee AV scan.  No viruses found.  Clean system, just
SLOW to boot, SLOW to start any program, SLOW to .. you get the
picture.
Yes, something is running in the background to do this and the only
thing I can think of is the massive av, spam killer, privacy whatever,
firewall monitor, wireless network security program etc that are the
McAfee Suite.
Before McAfee, the laptop ran likety split with only the free stuff
from Microft and a standalone av program.
I'm worried that if I uninstall McAfee, I'll have stuff left over in
the registry and on the machine that will keep me pretty slow.  Am I
wrong?  Should I ininstall the McAfee Suite or not.
Any advice is greatly appreicated, as this laptop is configured with
my work netword as well as the home network and some programs would be
really hard to come by again.
TIA, post reply here.  Ron

Re: Remove McAfee Wireless Network Suite??

Hi Ron,

Look in Services and adjust the McAfee Services to as follows:

Services settings to display Startup Icons for McAfee Services.

McAfee E-mail Proxy   Set to Manual
McAfee HackerWatch Service       Set to Automatic
McAfee Log Manager   Set to Automatic
McAfee Network Agent   Set to Manual
McAfee Personal Firewall Service Set to Automatic
McAfee Protection Manager  Set to Manual
McAfee Real-time Scanner  Set to Automatic
McAfee Redirector Service  Set to Disabled
McAfee Scanner    Set to Manual
McAfee SystemGuards   Set to Manual
McAfee Task Scheduler   Set to Automatic
McAfee Update Manager   Set to Automatic
McAfee User Manager   Set to Manual

You can also disable the McAfee Network Agent, if you can live with
errors in the Application Error Log in the Events Viewer.

Re: Remove McAfee Wireless Network Suite??

I've gotten it all configured, running fine but still slow.
Set a restore point.
Then I bit the bullet, got Avast, enabled the Windows Firewall and
Defender.
And the X200 is back to pretty fast.  The old girl just didn't have
enough umph to handle all the McAfee background stuff.
Understandable.  Again, McAfee is seamless with the faster processors
and enough ram.
I appreciate all your help.  Everything is a learning experience.
Regards,
Ron
