I don't use NOD32, but if I diddle the local distributor out of his profit
and buy it online from the USA to avoid paying the 17.5% VAT, would it be
reasonable of me to expect NOD32 UK to provide free support?

NOD32 Australia behaved foolishly IMO. You bought the program for your
friend in another country and you diddled them out of their profit. Telling
her to "fuck off" would have been a bit extreme, but they should have given
her the choice of paying for support or going back to where you bought it if
she wanted help for free. If getting that help cost her 50 quid in overseas
phone calls you might have both learned something from it.

My vote goes to "George Orwell". Your attitude is the problem here. You have
the skin of a pachyderm and you expect far too much for free. The world owes
you nothing.

May I be so bold as to ask why you hide as "fredw@ninmule.invalid"?

And it will be driven even lower by arseholes like you who cheat him out of
profit by going outside the country to buy a program he sells to put food on
his table. No fair thinking man would blame him for charging you for
support. "Dutch cunt" is not a term I would have used, but if the cap
fits...
