Um, ok, thanks. Strange that I don't get the typical IE download
window. The file wasn't exactly downloaded to the directory I wanted
it to go.
I downloaded the very recent Security Update for Windows 98 (KB918547)
which was Windows98-KB918547-ENU.exe
When I unpack it, the only new files are:
All dated April 24, 2006.
Since this is the download for the WMF vulnerability, which I believe
was being mis-handled by GDI32.DLL, I was expecting that the solution
would be a new version of GDI32.DLL (wasn't that the solution for
other OS's like XP?).
None of the above files are anywhere near the size of the native
GDI32.DLL file, so I can't see them as being the replacement. Has MS
chosen some other way to handle the WMF problem by using a wedge or
external handler to intercept calls to GDI32? Do I really want to bog
down GDI calls by always routing them through this new DLL?
